What is the condition?

Our service list confirms that “Threads” is offered, but this is a broad cosmetic term rather than one defined product or diagnosis.

Thread lifts are generally considered for selected areas of mild-to-moderate facial or neck laxity (loose skin). The treatment area, material and indication are confirmed at consultation.1

How Skinfinity treats this concern

A thread lift places sterile, medical-grade sutures beneath the skin to provide temporary tissue support. Threads may be absorbable (dissolving) or non-absorbable, and may be smooth, barbed or cone-based.

The brand, material, size, placement plane, anaesthetic, number of threads, follow-up and removal plan have not been specified in advance; they are chosen and explained after your assessment.

A specific FDA-cleared MINT thread product is cited only as an example and should not be assumed to be the product we use.23

What we confirm with you before treatment

  1. The treatment area and indication
  2. The exact thread brand, material and size
  3. Authorisation of the product
  4. Placement plane, anaesthetic and number of threads
  5. Technique and expected course
  6. Clinician credentials and thread-technique training
  7. Follow-up and removal plan
  8. Your written consent and emergency contact

What outcome can you expect?

The intended outcome is a subtle, temporary improvement in laxity or contour. It is not a surgical facelift and not a permanent correction.

A meta-analysis found pooled complications including swelling, dimpling, altered sensation, visible or palpable (feelable) threads, infection and extrusion (a thread working its way out); rates vary by study and product.

Satisfaction and how long results last also vary, so no guaranteed outcome can be promised.4

Aftercare and long-term support

  1. Follow the written instructions for the selected product.
  2. Avoid rubbing or pressure until your clinician allows it, and follow guidance about heat, exercise, sleeping position, cleansing and makeup.
  3. Contact the clinic for increasing pain, redness, drainage, fever, a visible or protruding thread, new asymmetry or persistent swelling.
  4. Seek urgent care for severe symptoms.

Suitability, limitations and safety

Only an appropriately qualified, legally licensed clinician trained in facial anatomy and thread techniques should perform this invasive procedure, using an authorised product, sterile technique, informed consent and a complication plan.

Risks include pain, bruising, bleeding, infection, dimpling, asymmetry, visible threads, migration, extrusion, inflammatory reaction and persistent discomfort. Facial procedures can also injure nerves, blood vessels or the parotid (salivary gland) duct.

We review your medicines, allergies, infection risk and expectations, and discuss the possibility of thread removal or further treatment.34
